Fortec Motorsports arrived at Brands Hatch for the penultimate weekend of the 2025 GB4 Championship buoyed by Jack Taylor’s dominant double victory at Silverstone. However, this time it was a case of unfulfilled potential, as traffic in qualifying left all three drivers starting out of position. “We just got caught in traffic and couldn’t get the best out of it,” explained Jack.
Silverstone podium finisher Thomas Ingram-Hill managed the situation best, qualifying ninth for the first two races.
“I think I underperformed a little in qualifying,” admitted Tom. “We hit traffic and just didn’t put the lap together.”
Tom put in solid performances across the two completed races, moving forward whenever opportunities arose. In Saturday’s opener, contact between Dayton Coulthard and Leon Wilson at Druids and Graham Hill Bend eliminated both cars, allowing Tom, Jack, and others to make early progress.
Jack made the biggest gains, climbing from 14th to 11th on lap one, before moving into ninth a lap later. He then passed Luke Hilton at Westfield Bend to take eighth, swapping places with Tom shortly afterwards. The Safety Car was called following Hilton’s off at Sheen Curve, before the race was red flagged and results declared. “I had really good pace and made up seven spots,” said Jack. “I think I set the second-fastest lap, but it’s just so hard to pass here. I couldn’t make up any more.”
Race two on Sunday saw all three Fortec drivers make clean starts. Tom and Jack each gained two places to run seventh and ninth, while Luca Magnussen, celebrating his birthday, mirrored his race one performance by climbing three positions to 14th on the opening lap. “We got our heads down at the start and made some good progress, but it’s hard to overtake here so I think we maximised what we could,” commented Tom.
From there the field settled into a largely processional rhythm, with Tom and Jack part of a six-car battle for fourth place. With overtaking opportunities limited on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix layout, positions remained largely unchanged until the final lap, when Jack found a way past Coulthard to secure eighth at the flag.
Fortec had high hopes for the reverse-grid final race, which was set to feature Jack on the front row and Tom in third. However, a lengthy delay following an incident in the Ginetta Junior race forced organisers to reschedule the contest for the season finale at Donington Park in October.
