Fortec Motorsports made strong forward progress in the opening rounds of the 2026 GB3 Championship at Silverstone (25/26 April), gaining a combined 30 positions across three competitive races. The team fielded Australian Jack Taylor, making his debut at this level, alongside Japanese‑Greek racer Alexandros Kattoulas, who contested three GB3 rounds with the team in 2024.

After practice and testing on Thursday and Friday, the pair tackled the new qualifying format, which featured two 15‑minute sessions. In the first, Alex placed 15th and Jack 21st, with the duo 13th and 22nd respectively in the second.

Race One

Under bright, sunny skies, both drivers made strong starts in the 25‑minute opener, as Alex climbed to 12th and Jack gained five places to run 16th in the early laps. Their pace continued, with Alex moving into ninth and Jack into 13th before the Safety Car was deployed with seven minutes remaining.

Racing resumed with just over two minutes on the clock and Alex pulled clear of the car behind to secure ninth, while Jack came under pressure but drove well to capitalise on a battle ahead, regaining a position on the final lap.

Race Two

On Sunday morning, Jack was immediately on the move, gaining three places in the opening minutes, while Alex made up one position before the Safety Car was deployed. The race went green with 15 minutes remaining, and Alex was thrust into a close fight for 10th, with Jack similarly battling hard for 14th.

A second Safety Car period inside the final 10 minutes left time for only one final racing lap where, avoiding drama and maintaining strong pace, Alex was classified ninth and Jack 17th.

Race Three

The final race featured the reversed grid for the top‑12 qualifiers, offering fewer finishing points but rewarding drivers with points for overtaking. Jack gained two places on the opening lap to run 18th when the Safety Car was deployed, while Alex held 13th.

Racing resumed with just under five minutes remaining and, at the flag, Alex finished 11th, securing a gain of 11 positions across the three contests, while Jack took 16th, completing an impressive total of 19 places secured over the weekend.

Fortec Motorsports returns to GB3 Championship action on 30/31 May, when the series heads to Circuit de Spa‑Francorchamps in Belgium — the first of four European rounds on the 2026 calendar.
