Fortec Motorsport is targeting a return to the top step of the podium as the 2023 GB4 Championship reaches its conclusion at Donington Park this weekend [21-22 October].

The Daventry-based team make the short journey to the East Midlands venue keen to add a race win to a silverware-laden campaign, that has already yielded 12 podium finishes across the 17 races held to date.

In prospect for the trio of Colin Queen (USA), Aditya Kulkarni (GBR) and, making his GB4 debut, Dan Hickey (GBR) is the fast, flowing Grand Prix layout at Donington Park.

The 2.4-mile venue has a blend of high, medium, and low-speed corners, offering drivers an all-round challenge, and ample overtaking opportunities, not least into the first corner at Redgate, on the brakes at Old Hairpin or into the Melbourne hairpin at the end of the lap.

And there’s plenty left to play for heading into the season finale; Queen could yet secure a top-three position in the championship in his debut season, with Kulkarni defending a narrow gap to keep himself inside the top five.

Fortec Motorsport remain second in a highly-competitive Teams’ Championship, but will need to put in a decent showing to defend their 28-point advantage over their nearest rivals.

Wet weather hampered the team’s preparations this week, with both of Friday’s pre-event practice sessions cancelled as a result of Storm Babet.

Therefore, the team heads into qualifying tomorrow morning (11:50 BST), with the opening race to follow at 17:05. Sunday features a double header of action at 11:11 and 17:01, with live coverage available for free via MSV TV’s YouTube channel.

“I’m really looking forward to the weekend ahead, and to make my debut in the GB4 Championship with Fortec Motorsport.

“It will be a challenge, but one I’m looking forward to. We’ve got a lot of learning and development to make, so I’m excited for that process. Let’s see what we can do!”

Aditya Kulkarni (#15) said:

“It’s the last race week of the season! Sitting fifth in the championship, I’m feeling strong and confident ahead of the weekend at Donington Park.

“Having achieved a podium on our last visit here earlier this season, I’m aiming for more silverware this time around.”

Colin Queen (#62) said:

“Being the final round of the GB4 Championship, we want to end the year on a strong note.

“Donington Park is the ideal circuit for me, and for the team, to capitalise and take some great results, as we’ve always been quick around here.”

Oliver Dutton, Team Principal said:

“I’m very proud of the team for achieving 12 podiums so far this year, but obviously we would all love to celebrate a win at the final round of the championship.

“It was a strong circuit for the guys earlier in the year, so we go into the weekend knowing what is possible and what we can achieve.

“Preparations haven’t been ideal with the Great British weather, but everyone’s in good spirits and looking forward to ending the season on a positive note.”
