Fortec Motorsport continues its defence of the GB4 Championship at the world-famous Silverstone GP circuit this weekend [6-7 May].

The Northamptonshire venue – known globally as the venue for the Formula 1 ® British Grand Prix – will play host to the single-seater starts of tomorrow after a dramatic opening three rounds at Oulton Park last month.

Daventry-based team Fortec came away from that Easter outing with their first podium of the new season courtesy of Colin Queen, and with points – and plenty of progress – for two relatively late arrivals to the 2023 grid, Aditya Kulkarni, and Ruhaan Alva.

Now, one month on, the trio prepares to tackle the full-length, 3.6-mile Grand Prix layout at the self-professed ‘Home of British Motorsport’, in a bid to inject life into the team’s ambition of retaining its titles.

And the circuit is one that lends itself to overtaking, with a combination of high-speed, flowing corners and long straights, on which the slipstream can be very effective, particularly into the braking zones at Stowe, Vale and Brooklands.

With changeable weather conditions forecast, the field will first tackle qualifying at 12:10 (BST) on Saturday afternoon, ahead of the opening race at 17:05.

Sunday features two more action-packed contests, with lights out at 11:11 and 16:54 respectively. Live coverage is available on MSV TV’s YouTube channel.

Aditya Kulkarni (#23) said:

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend at Silverstone. Having only announced the deal to race a few days before Oulton, it’s been good to have a month to continue my development, together with the car and the team.

“We’re continuing to make really positive strides. It’s also great to experience such a famous circuit as Silverstone, I can’t wait to get going.”

Ruhaan Alva (#27) said:

“We’re making progress every time we step in the car at the moment, which is great to see and is really encouraging.

“Silverstone is such an enjoyable circuit to drive, and it’s somewhere you can really race, which will be a new experience for me after the narrow track at Oulton Park. I’m looking forward to it.”

Colin Queen (#62) said:

“”I’m extremely excited to finally have the opportunity to race on the full Silverstone GP circuit. The team and I have worked very hard since Oulton Park, and we’re arriving in a good place and ready to compete at the front again.”

Oliver Dutton, Team Principal said:

“Every session our GB4 team keeps developing and getting stronger, which is a huge motivating factor for the team heading to Silverstone.

“Colin was definitely unlucky not to be in with a shout for a win at Oulton, and Aditya and Ruhaan continue to impress us with their work ethic and progress every time they get in the seat.

“It’s a matter of when, not if, we get all three cars up at the pointy end of the grid. The weather this weekend throws in an extra variable, so who knows? We’re all feeling good about it.”
