Fortec Motorsports recorded multiple top-10 finishes and strong Rookie performances during the inaugural GB4 Winter Series at Snetterton (24-25 October).

The team fielded two promising 15-year-olds for the weekend. Indonesian racer Qarrar Firhand arrived fresh from becoming the first driver from his country to win the WSK Euro Series OK title, having also contested the closing rounds of British F4 with Fortec Motorsports.

Alongside him was Max Yuill, who enjoyed a strong campaign in the British Kart Championship’s Senior X30 IAME category and was making his car racing debut.
Despite mixed weather conditions throughout the weekend, both drivers showed encouraging pace and racecraft as they continued their development in single-seater competition.

Races One and Two

Changeable weather conditions greeted the field on Saturday, beginning with a dry opening contest before rain arrived later in the day.

Qarrar spent much of race one inside the top 10, defending hard before narrowly missing out on ninth in the closing stages and taking 10th at the flag. Max recovered from an early loss of positions to take 16th after a determined drive in traffic.

The rain intensified for race two, creating difficult visibility throughout the field. Qarrar adapted impressively to the conditions, climbing as high as sixth before a red flag interrupted proceedings. Following a Safety Car restart and a short sprint to the finish, Qarrar recovered to secure sixth place, while Max also made late progress to claim 14th in the closing corners.

Races Three and Four

Sunday brought drier conditions and another pair of encouraging performances.
Qarrar once again ran comfortably inside the top 10 and crossed the line ninth in race three, while Max worked his way forward to finish 15th and third among the Rookie drivers.

The final race of the weekend brought early drama when Max sustained front-wing damage after taking avoiding action for a spinning car. A timely Safety Car period allowed him to rejoin the pack after repairs, and he recovered to claim 15th and another third-place Rookie finish. Ahead, Qarrar rounded out the weekend with a fourth top-10 finish, taking eighth at the flag.

Those encouraging performances, delivered across a variety of conditions, further demonstrated Fortec Motorsports’ proven ability to help young drivers make the transition from karting to single-seater racing and progress up the motorsport ladder.
