• Fortec Motorsport hoping to clinch two titles in final three races
  • Nikolas Taylor tops Drivers’ standings for Daventry team
  • Carl Bennett joins expanded three-car entry for Teams’ title push

Fortec Motorsport have their eyes firmly set towards the GB4 Championship season finale at Donington Park this weekend (15/16 October) with both titles within reach for the team.

After seven meetings it all comes down to the remaining three races of the inaugural GB4 Championship season in Leicester, with Fortec Motorsport’s Nikolas Taylor taking a healthy 31-point lead into the title decider.

The Anglo-Malaysian teenager has lit up the series on his rookie year with a stunning run of form, claiming the most race victories of any driver with nine to his name including a treble triumph at Silverstone.

One of those wins came on the team’s previous visit to Donington Park, and the team now hope to not only secure the Drivers’ Championship, but also overturn a 20-point deficit in the increasingly competitive Teams’ title with the help of an expanded three-car entry for the final meeting.

Jessica Edgar enjoyed a strong weekend at Brands Hatch to climb the table and add another top-five finish to her tally for the year, while Fortec adds Carl Bennett to their roster. The Thai-American has been a star performer in Formula 4 United States, and will provide extra firepower for the Daventry squad.

The final weekend will again feature three races, with qualifying on Saturday morning at 11:50. Race one gets underway at 17:10 later that afternoon, with Sunday’s final two sprints kicking off at 11:10 and 16:50 respectively – including a reverse grid contest to finish the weekend.

All three races will once again be streamed online and free to watch on MSV TV’s YouTube page with live timing alongside it, and you can keep up to date via Fortec Motorsport’s social media channels.

Oliver Dutton, Team Manager:

“It’s a massive weekend for us and we’ve got two championships in front of us that we badly want to win. Nikolas has done everything he can to get into the right position to claim the crown and we’ve expanded the team by bringing in Carl to help us push for that Teams’ Championship. We need to fight for it, so we’ll work hard to achieve that and I have full faith in everybody.”

Jessica Edgar:

“Brands Hatch was very encouraging for us and now we move on to Donington, I hope that we can repeat that and move into the top five regularly.”

Nikolas Taylor:

“We have a good buffer in the championship but we can’t take our eyes off the ball because Donington was a very strong track for Hillspeed last time, and I’m sure they will come back fighting. I’m excited, and I’ll do what I can to come away with the title.”

Carl Bennett:

“I’m looking forward to racing in the UK with Fortec at Donington Park for the final round of the GB4 Championship. GB4 is known for its fast European racers and this is another experience for my self improvement. I will do my best to keep up with them and race smart.”
